Every year, we see more and more homeless people in our community.
SleepOut for Shelter dedicates one night, eight hours, to raising awareness about their plight.
Let’s work together to end homelessness in McHenry County.
WHAT IS SLEEPOUT FOR SHELTER?
For one night, event participants spend the night outside in tents, boxes or cars to raise awareness and money for McHenry County PADS—the largest provider of shelter and services to the county’s men, women and children who have found themselves facing homelessness.

WHAT IS MCHENRY COUNTY PADS?
McHenry County PADS, a program of Pioneer Center for Human Services, offers emergency and transitional housing coupled with support services to help homeless individuals work toward becoming self-sufficient.
These support services enable people to receive case management, job training, counseling and psychiatric services. They also receive day-to-day services including access to showers, laundry facilities, transportation, computers and an address at which to receive mail. The program is designed to address the root causes of homelessness and not just treat the symptoms.
The statistics are real…
In 2016, McHenry County PADS provided programs and services to 250 men, women and children…
- 119 people accessed our Day Center
- 73 people, including 5 families with 8 children, found safety in our emergency sleeping rooms
- 21 people, including 3 families, began to rebuild their lives while living in our transitional home
Homelessness is growing, we need to act now. Your contributions help fund our program throughout the year.
